I started making beats at the age of 12 which started out as a hobby just making beats/instrumentals, then at the age of 15 during cambodian new years i ran home put together a track brought it to the after party so everyone could check it out, and that song was -Smoke Weed- after that i've been rapping and hitting the tracks ever since, i didnt expect much out of the smoke weed track, just did the track for fun, now i dont how this happened but its all over youtube and the internet if you search for khmerkid theres so many pages.
2. Do you see a future in khmer/asian rappers?
A future for asian rappers? yes, i see alot of potential and a lot of talented Khmer/Asian rappers/hip hoppers out there! if people can hit the lottery every weekend, we are bound to blow up any time, any one of us are bound to come up, and if anyone of us come up in the music industry i'm hoping to see hands reaching out to new talented Khmer/Asian artist, When i do i will.
3. your child hood..
Typical Cambodian child hood dad works mom worked for a lil bit then stayed home to take care of us.
I was the hard head of the family, never listen to my parents, dad always had to woop my ass to keep me in check, ran away from home alot.
The typical street life sold drugs, get into fights, cutting school, got jumped, jump them back ect...
Wish i knew then what i know now, but its all good my past brought me here took me out this far so im cool with that.
4. location where you grew up at? city
Grew up in Up-Town Chicago on Lawrence And Broadway, it wasnt that bad of a neighborhood at first, there were gangs but they would only mess with you if you did something to them.
Then around '95 the gangs grew thats when the race war started between blacks spanish and asians as far i know and as far as my neighborhood, im sure it started befor that i was just never aware of it till 1995.
5. Any prior gang affiliations?
I ride with The Outlaw Bloods. since i was 15, Back then we watched out for selves till the gangs grew and every one tryna prove themselves we had to step-up or get stepped on!
6. whatever you want people to know about yourself...
Im layed back,
I enjoy production, from music to videos to graphic designing,
I love to see what i can do with my knowledge,
I love to test the limits of my skills,
im all about wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
If you have a little bit of wisdom in you, it won't take you long to understand all the knowledge thats available out there!
